My first art commission! For Pope J-Rod, who's lurking around on DA somewhere.

Warforged are a player class in the Eberron setting, a kind of sentient golem created (I assume) for battle. Doc, however, is an adventurer. I'm told he's an adamantium Warforged Artificer (that's an adventuring class). Tough in battle, Doc is nonetheless still a child in many ways, discovering the world around him and trying to figure out just what it means to be "alive." He's an idealistic, thoughtful creature, with many hopes and dreams for the future.

Not being familiar with Eberron myself, my take on the Warforged is what you might call "unique." The commissioner asked me to come up with something on my own rather than look to the established design for inspiration. So if you know what Eberron is, you might rightly find this a little strange-looking, but it's something of how I've always imagined golems.

The odd little booty things are a pair of Boots of Striding and Springing, a magical item that allows the wearer to run and leap supernaturally well. Magical items in Dungeons and Dragons traditionally size themselves to fit the wearer, so it tickled me to imagine them stretching on over his flat feet. I know they look a bit weird, but I'll be coloring this lineart, and we'll see how they work out then.
